We were on track to open our state-of-the-art new Activities Centre this spring when circumstances beyond our control forced us to delay our plans.

The life-enhancing centre was made possible thanks to the generosity of friends and supporters. The staff members and Chelsea Pensioners, who toured the site when it was near to completion were very impressed with the building and facilities.

Just before Christmas, flood damage forced us to postpone the opening until vital repairs and restoration have been carried out. Our insurers are meeting the full cost of all the necessary work, which will be completed as soon as possible.

We expect the Activities Centre to be ready to receive Chelsea Pensioners this autumn. In the meantime, the Royal Hospital team will be supporting them to pursue the interests that mean so much to them elsewhere on site.

As soon as the centre is ready, we will hold an open weekend exclusively for the kind supporters who helped us create it – so they can see this wonderful resource for themselves. In the meantime, we will keep you posted and appreciate your patience and understanding as we deal with this unforeseen obstacle.
